Ozone's Map Packs and Game Installs

We play Counter-Strike:Source, Condition Zero and Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory with custom maps packs that I have put together. We also play Battlefield 2 with the Nations at War mod. You really should download the map packs before you connect, because it will take forever to download in-game, and in some cases the in-game download will still fail.

I ask you to use my favorite password in a few places on this page. If you don't know what that is, please send me an e-mail.

Condition Zero

Make sure you start Condition Zero once before you try to install my maps, or else the directory structure won't be there. You can get the Condition Zero map pack here:

czeroMay2008.7z (807.3 MB)

You will need to decompress the above file into a directory that looks like one of these:

E:\Steam\SteamApps\yourname@email.net\condition zero
C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\yourname@email.net\condition zero
D:\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\yourname@email.net\condition zero

You will need to substitute your e-mail address and your drive letter. The 7z file contains the czero directory, so be sure to decompress into the "condition zero" directory, or else the files will not go in the right places. Also, let it overwrite files if it asks.

If you join my server and still find that you are downloading the map files, then you probably decompressed the files into the wrong directory.

Counter-Strike:Source

Make sure you start Counter-Strike:Source once before you try to install my maps, or else the directory structure won't be there. You can get the Counter-Strike:Source map packs here:

cssMarch2009.7z (987 MB)

cssDec2009Update.7z (160.5 MB)

You will need to decompress both of the 7z files (March 2009, followed by the December 2009 Update) into a directory that looks like one of these:

E:\Steam\SteamApps\yourname@email.net\counter-strike source
C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\yourname@email.net\counter-strike source
D:\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\yourname@email.net\counter-strike source

You will need to substitute your e-mail address and your drive letter. The 7z file contains the cstrike directory, so be sure to decompress into the "counter-strike source" directory, or else the files will not go in the right places. Also, let it overwrite files if it asks.

If you join my server and still find that you are downloading the map files, then you probably decompressed the files into the wrong directory.

Wolfenstein:Enemy Territory

Wolf:ET is a completely free game. You can download the files in many places on the Internet. First, you will need to download the main install file:

wolfet.exe (257.8 MB)

Then you will need to get the 2.60 patch:

et_patch_2_60.exe (5.5 MB)

Finally, you can get my Wolfenstein:Enemy Territory map pack here:

WolfET.7z (385.6 MB)

First, you will need to run wolfet.exe file. That will install the main game. Then you will need to run et_patch_2_60.exe. That will update your game to 2.60. Then you will need to decompress WolfET.7z into your Wolfenstein:Enemy Territory install directory. Make sure you have installed the game and the 2.6 patch before you install my maps.

If you join my server and still find that you are downloading the map files, then you probably decompressed the files into the wrong directory.

Please note that my map pack also includes the 2.60b patch files, so you don't need to install those separately.

To make Wolf:ET use vsync:

First, make sure you have created a profile, and set the graphics the way you want them. Go to \Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\etmain\profiles\(your profile name), and edit etconfig.cfg. Find the "seta r_swapInterval" line, and change the value to one, like this:

seta r_swapInterval "1"

To make Wolf:ET use widescreen modes:

First, start the game, create a profile, and set the graphics and other settings the way you want them. Go to \Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\etmain\profiles\(your profile name), and edit etconfig.cfg. Find the "seta r_mode" line. Change the value to -1, like this:

seta r_mode "-1"

Then find the "seta r_customwidth" and "seta r_customheight" lines. Change the values to your desired width and height, like this:

seta r_customwidth "1680"
seta r_customheight "1050"

Then find the "seta cg_fov" line, and change it to 100.39 for 16:10 aspect ratio, or 106.27 for 16:9 aspect ratio, like this:

seta cg_fov "100.39"

Nations at War 6.0 mod for Battlefield 2

First you need to get Battlefield 2, and patch it to version 1.5. You can find the patch here:

BF2_Patch_1.5 (1.93 GB)

Then you need to download all of the Nations at War 6.0 install files. You will find the files at this location:

Nations at War Download Page

You will need to download "NAW 6.0 - Client Files" and "NAW 6.0 - All Map Packs".

Install the Client Files first, and then the map packs. When you download All Map Packs, you will get a ZIP file with four executable files in it. Extract the four executables, and install them in order. Then you should be ready to go.

I installed 6.0 over 5.2, and I haven't seen any problems so far.

Hamachi

In order to play some of our games, such as Nations at War, we need to use Hamachi.

  1. First you need to install it. Click the link below:

    LogMeIn Hamachi

  2. You should see a large "Download Now" button in the middle of the page. Click it.
  3. You do NOT need to enter your personal information. Just check the box under the "Conditions of Use" section to claim (true or not) that you are not a terrorist. Then click "Go to Download".
  4. In the Windows section, be sure English is chosen in the drop-down, and then click Download. Save the file somewhere that you can find it.
  5. Now run the file. It should look something like "HamachiSetup-1.0.3.0-en.exe". You may need to click "Run" in a security dialog.
  6. When it comes up, click Next.
  7. Put a check next to "I accept the agreement", then click Next.
  8. You probably don't want it to start automatically when Windows starts, so uncheck that. But it might be handy to put an icon on your desktop, so put a check next to that. Then click Next.
  9. Check "Disable vulnerable Windows services over Hamachi", then click Next.
  10. Click the radio button next to "Use Hamachi with Non-commercial license.", then click Next.
  11. Click Install, and Hamachi will be installed on your system.

Now you need to configure Hamachi and connect to the Ozone Gaming network.

  1. Start Hamachi. The Hamachi Quick Guide will start. Click Next.
  2. Read the information, and click Next.
  3. Click Power as suggested. Come up with a unique nickname for yourself.
  4. After you have an address, click Next.
  5. As suggested, click the Networks button. Choose "Join an existing network...". Enter "Ozone Gaming" for the Network name, and use my favorite password for the Network password.
  6. You should now be part of the Ozone Gaming network. Close the Hamachi Quick Guide.
  7. In Windows, bring up the Network Connections window. You should see at least Hamachi and Local Area Connection. Click on the Advanced menu, and choose "Advanced Settings...".
  8. In the top window, click on Hamachi, and use the green up arrow to move Hamachi to the top. Then click OK, and restart your computer.
  9. You should now be able to join my Hamachi LAN games.
  10. Please note that you may need to move Local Area Network back to the top if you are not using Hamachi. Thank Microsoft for creating a wonky network stack.

TightVNC

With TightVNC, you can give me access, via Hamachi, to see what is on your computer screen, and to control your mouse and keyboard as if I was at your house. This could come in really handy if you are having trouble getting things working. Here is what you need to do to download and install TightVNC:

Now you need to configure TightVNC:

7-Zip

You will need 7-Zip to decompress the 7z files mentioned above. You can get it here:

http://www.7-zip.org/

You probably want the 32-bit version, unless you are running the 64-bit version of XP or Vista.

To install 7-Zip, double-click the file you downloaded. Click Install. When it is done, click Finish. Find the 7-Zip folder in your Start menu, and start the 7-Zip File Manager. Click on the Tools menu and choose Options. Press the Select All button. Then click on the Plugins tab. Press the Options button. Make sure there is a checkmark next to Extract Here. Press OK. Press OK again. Then close the 7-Zip File Manager. Note that 7-Zip will now be your default program for handling any type of compressed files. That's a good thing.

To decompress the 7z files into the appropriate directory, right-click drag the 7z file over the directory you want to decompress into, then choose Extract Here.

I use 7-Zip because it is free, and because it does a better job compressing the files than any other compression software available.
